Automotive Leasing Wins Environmental Award
Automotive Leasing, the specialist public sector division of fleet management company LeasePlan, has won recognition for its environmental efforts and will be presented with a National Green Apple Award at Edinburgh Castle on September 10, 2012.
Automotive Leasing will attend the ceremony together with 35 other Scottish winners, hosted by The Green Organisation, who run the award scheme with the support of the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland.
The UK Green Apple Awards were launched in 1994, but this is the first time there has been a separate event for Scotland.
Winning is restricted to companies, councils and communities that can demonstrate the effective measures they have introduced for environmental benefit.
Tim Meadows, brand director at Automotive Leasing, said: “Many of our Nissan Leaf and Vauxhall Ampera vehicles have been ordered by Scottish organisations committed to the environment and wanting to do their bit to meet the stringent ‘green’ targets set by the Scottish Government.
“We are continually looking for ways to make our offering more environmentally friendly, and to pass on these benefits to our customers directly.”
There are Gold, Silver and Bronze winners in every category, but no-one knows exactly what they have won until the ceremony itself.
One of them will be crowned ‘Green Champion of Scotland’ and all of the finalists will be further assessed for the prospect of representing Scotland in the European Business Awards for the Environment, as the Green Apple Awards is one of the few British campaigns chosen as an RSA-accredited feeder scheme into the Brussels-led competition.
Winners also have the chance to engage with the UK Green Apple Awards and the chance of further recognition and reward at the House of Commons, where the overall winner will be given a free holiday for two in the world’s greenest resort – AquaCity in Slovakia.
