CFLA Names its Member of the Year 2012, Angela Armstrong

CALGARY, ALBERTA (September 13, 2011).  At its 2012 national conference, CFLA Chairman Jeffery Hartley announced the “CFLA Member of the Year”:

CFLA Board Member Angela Armstrong,

President of the Prime Capital Group and Forest Leasing, of Edmonton, Alberta.

This Award recognizes individuals, volunteers from members, who work quietly for the Association, committed to its goals.  “These volunteers are wonderful examples of those who are pleased to give back to their industry,” said the CFLA Chairman.  “Their generous efforts are a significant contribution to their Association, to its members and to the industry as a whole.”

Over the last few years, Angela has been a tireless supporter of CFLA.  She took the initiative to involve more brokers in the Association.  She chairs the Broker-Funder Working Group that has met several times to surface issues of interest to funders and brokers.  One initiative flowing from the Working Group was the Funder-Broker Reception at this conference.  “This afternoon, her success was visible,” said Mr. Hartley.  “This is only the second year that we have offered the Funder-Broker Reception.  With over 70 delegates attending, it clearly has filled an important need for our members.”

“This is one of those rare occasions where we honour the same person a second time,” noted the CFLA Chairman. “It has only happened twice before in our history, and in this year’s honouree, it is truly third time lucky, lucky for us that is,” he added.

Angela was first honoured for her role as a volunteer instructor in CFLA‘s education program, Canadian Lease Education Online, or CLEO for short.  She leads the session on Marketing & Sales and the Selling Process.  “So, it is hardly surprising that she was the moving force behind today’s workshop on branding and marketing,” remarked Mr. Hartley.

When Calgary was announced as our conference location, Angela got quickly involved to organize tomorrow morning’s important session on the oil and gas sector.  The oil and gas marketplace is important to almost every member’s business.  It was essential that we talk about the opportunities offered by this sector.   Angela contacted the leadership of the top oil and gas industry organizations and got their commitment to participate.  “So tomorrow morning’s session will happen because Angela made it happen,” reported the CFLA Chairman.

“Last but not least, it was Angela that connected us with AIESEC, the dynamic organization run by young people interested in business, and represented by business students from the University of Alberta.  Given our 40th anniversary objective to identify and develop the next generation of asset-based financiers and lessors, AIESEC is a great place for us to start.”

Angela, for all this, your enthusiasm for your industry and your support of your Association, we thank you.
